Plant Identification Course for Grassland & Heathland

The TMA Learning Hub has been created to support professional development across the environmental, planning and design sectors. Our aim is simple: to bring industry experts directly to you, providing practical, relevant training that supports better project outcomes and informed decision-making. Through a carefully developed programme of short courses and specialist training, we share applied knowledge, encourage collaboration, and promote best practice across arboriculture, ecology, landscape architecture and environmental planning. Whether you are looking to strengthen your technical understanding, improve project delivery, or stay up to date with evolving standards and guidance, our training is grounded in real-world experience. Delivered by experienced consultants, our sessions draw directly on live projects, providing honest, practical examples rather than purely theoretical learning. At the end of each course, participants will receive a TMA Learning Hub certificate of attendance as a record of their participation and learning.

Our in-person courses are delivered from our office in Bishop’s Stortford, providing a unique setting for both classroom and practical learning. The site offers direct access to a varied landscape, including: Riverine woodland along the River Stort Species-rich meadowland A number of mature and veteran trees Adjacent and emerging residential and public space developments This allows us to incorporate outdoor elements into many of our courses, bringing learning to life through real examples and site-based exercises where appropriate.

What to Bring Pen and notebook Suitable outdoor clothing and footwear (for site-based elements, where relevant to the course) What We Provide All course materials and handouts Hot and cold beverages Light refreshments (such as biscuits and pastries) Please note that unless specified lunch is not provided. You are welcome to bring your own, and a fridge is available for your use. We are also conveniently located close to local amenities and delivery services.
