Our Team

Tim Moya

Managing Director

Tim has worked in the industry for over 30 years establishing one of the leading arboricultural practices in the UK with an excellent reputation for high-quality work. Tim has excellent technical knowledge and specialises in trees relating to development and planning. He has worked with barristers as an expert witness and is also experienced in writing high level strategy documents to support land managers with tree and urban management.

Tim is committed to collaborative working and sharing knowledge. One of his main objectives is to invest in staff through sponsoring professional development and provide support, resources and facilities for knowledge sharing.

Tim is also on the panel of the Institute of Chartered Foresters interviewing applicants for membership.

Alice McAuley

Director

Alice has worked for TMA since 2002 and her experience and knowledge has contributed to the growth of the company. Alice has taken TMA through Investors in People gaining accreditation as the first environmental consultancy company to achieve IIP Gold Standard.

Alice’s strong IT skills support her in heading up the development of MyTrees and is also on the working party for the development of BIM in arboriculture. Another exciting area she is keen to develop in collaboration, is drone technology which can support heat mapping and virtual imagery.

Alice manages some of the largest projects and accounts. Her Diploma in Management has supported her to mentor and develop the employees at TMA.

Simon Thomas

Simon coordinates TMA’s Ecology services, offering a diverse range of capabilities including phase 1, bat, great crested newt, reptile, badger and BREEAM surveys, reports and mitigation, and most other ecology services.

Simon has been an ecological consultant since 2007 and has experience leading a very wide range of surveys, reports and mitigation schemes. Simon is an experienced bird surveyor and has worked on a variety of projects from wind farm surveys to mitigation and enhancement schemes.

Simon holds several protected species licences and is a professional member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM). Simon is committed to continually improving the quality of our work and providing an excellent service to clients.

Harriet has been working at TMA since 2006 and has extensive experience in supporting consultants to communicate digitally using programmes such as GIS and CAD.

Skilled in the use of MyTrees, the company’s database, CAD and Adobe, Harriet oversees all technical plans and drawings.

As project coordinator, Harriet ensures that the planning, management, coordination and delivery of projects is completed within the time frames and budget set.

Dean is passionate about the subject of Arboriculture and an experienced surveyor who works on large scale projects. Following the completion of a first-class honours degree in Arboriculture and Urban Forestry, Dean he is continuing his professional development with TMA and is a valued member of the arboricultural team.

Brooke Waites

Brooke has worked on a wide variety of projects from large-scale national transport schemes, to single residential dwelling projects.

Brooke specialises in surveys and mitigation for protected species, particularly bats, great crested newts and reptiles and is very experienced in undertaking Phase 1 Habitat Assessments and Preliminary Ecological Appraisals.

Using new and innovative survey techniques to improve the service provided to clients, Brooke is always looking to expand her knowledge of key protected species within the context of planning and development.

An area of work that Brooke is keen to expand is extensive ecological surveys for landowners, providing information and recommendations to assist them in managing the enhancement of habitat.

Chris has a particular interest in planning policy and sustains a reasoned, analytical, and measured approach to arboriculture. Working as a valued and prominent design team member/consultant on technically and logistically demanding projects.

Chris has great ability, energy and enthusiasm and has already made a significant contribution in the area of trees and fungi. This is evidenced not just by the TMA Fungi app, which has been very well received by the industry in the UK and abroad, but he is also a recognised expert in this area who has established himself as an authority. As a result, he is already working in a leading position in this specialised branch of the arboricultural industry and has been awarded the 30 under 30: The Next Generation awards in arboriculture, horticulture and landscape.

James Chambers

James has been involved in arboriculture for many years. Previous experience includes 13 years of managing trees for a local authority. Since employment with TMA in 2014, James has taken on the responsibility for the management of the arboricultural health and safety department. James and his team survey some of the largest green spaces in London and carry out regular Massaria inspections on London plane trees.

James is an expert in the use of decay detection equipment (PiCUS and Resi PD) and has completed several hundred tests for clients in the public and private sectors. An expert in the interpretation of this data enables TMA to make informed recommendations which are invaluable for tree safety.

Specialising in trees and construction with relation to planning, Edward has been involved in all aspects of arboricultural consultancy from BS: 5837 tree surveys providing site appraisal and guidance with design, through detailed impact assessments for full planning applications, liaison with engineers to provide method statements for specialist construction / supervised construction; and monitoring to implement sensitive works.

On-site supervision work and site monitoring have been a key factor for Edward, gaining experience and understanding of what and how development may be feasible in relation to retaining trees. By working closely with contractors, Edward has gained an understanding of species and ground condition dependent tree root morphology; and to what extent certain works may encroach on industry standard root protection areas without impacting trees.

Emma works with the directors to ensure the continued success of research and development across all departments whilst maintaining a strong focus on quality and compliance. Creating a tailored approach to new business and ensuring that our innovations are at the forefront of the industry.

Berenice Perez

GIS / CAD Technician

Berenice has worked with the arboriculture, ecology, landscape, hydrology and renewable energy sector for over 6 years and specialises in CAD, GIS and MyTrees.

With a degree in Forestry Engineering, plenty of GIS experience and previous roles have provided Berenice with excellent skills in terms of project management and working within multidisciplinary teams.

Berenice has designing customised reports within our MyTrees Software and has in depth knowledge of mapping different areas of habitat which is integral to the smooth running of projects.

Working in the GIS team, Berenice actively participated in the Landscape Project of “Ribagorza” region. Defining different landscape units, generating a DEM, using spatial analysis GIS tools, AP and Corine Land Cover layers. She has also helped in other environmental studies such as water survey studies.

Hattie has studied wildlife up to MSc level and has undertaken ecological survey work since 2013. Hattie has a wide range of survey experience including rare and protected species including great crested newts, natterjack toads, bats, white clawed crayfish, reptiles and dormice.

Working on a wide range of projects from large scale motorway and pipeline installations to small residential development sites, Hattie has gained expert knowledge and an understanding of ecosystems. Her knowledge supports clients to mitigate against potential damage and to enhance ecological features.

Hattie prides herself on her dedication to develop her knowledge and these skills to provide the best possible outcomes for our clients and nature.

Glyn began working within the arboriculture industry following a career change in 2012. His retraining started as a groundsman and climber and then qualified as a tree surveyor.
