Simon Thomas
Principal Ecological Consultant

Simon coordinates TMA’s Ecology services, offering a diverse range of capabilities including phase 1, bat, great crested newt, reptile, badger and BREEAM surveys, reports and mitigation, and most other ecology services.
Simon has been an ecological consultant since 2007 and has experience leading a very wide range of surveys, reports and mitigation schemes. Simon is an experienced bird surveyor and has worked on a variety of projects from wind farm surveys to mitigation and enhancement schemes.
Simon holds several protected species licences and is a professional member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM). Simon is committed to continually improving the quality of our work and providing an excellent service to clients.
Harriet Radmore
Managing Technician

Harriet has been working at TMA since 2006 and has extensive experience in supporting consultants to communicate digitally using programmes such as GIS and CAD.
Skilled in the use of MyTrees, the company’s database, CAD and Adobe, Harriet oversees all technical plans and drawings.
As project coordinator, Harriet ensures that the planning, management, coordination and delivery of projects is completed within the time frames and budget set.
Dean Meadows

Dean joined Tim Moya Associates as an Arboricultural Consultant in June 2018, shortly after graduating from Myerscough where he studied BSc (Hons) Arboriculture and Urban Forestry, achieving a First Class for his research project and overall degree, obtaining a Distinction in all but one module. Prior to this, Dean acquired a National Diploma in Applied Horticulture (Distinction), also at Myerscough, and has worked in both the arboriculture and horticulture industries in various roles. In 2020, Dean was named as one of Pro Landscaper’s 30 Under 30: The Next Generation, an award recognising young, aspiring and ambitious professionals.
Dean deals with trees in relation to all forms of human activity, including the built environment. His main focus is undertaking large to small-scale tree health and condition surveys and assessing and managing risk. Dean is an experienced and proficient user of THREATS and is a registered user of Quantified Tree Risk Assessment (QTRA), which is the risk evaluation system currently adopted by TMA..
Brooke Waites

Brooke has worked on a wide variety of projects from large-scale national transport schemes, to single residential dwelling projects.
Brooke specialises in surveys and mitigation for protected species, particularly bats, great crested newts and reptiles and is very experienced in undertaking Phase 1 Habitat Assessments and Preliminary Ecological Appraisals.
Using new and innovative survey techniques to improve the service provided to clients, Brooke is always looking to expand her knowledge of key protected species within the context of planning and development.
An area of work that Brooke is keen to expand is extensive ecological surveys for landowners, providing information and recommendations to assist them in managing the enhancement of habitat.
Christopher Wright

Chris has a particular interest in planning policy and sustains a reasoned, analytical, and measured approach to arboriculture. Working as a valued and prominent design team member/consultant on technically and logistically demanding projects.
Chris has great ability, energy and enthusiasm and has already made a significant contribution in the area of trees and fungi. This is evidenced not just by the TMA Fungi app, which has been very well received by the industry in the UK and abroad, but he is also a recognised expert in this area who has established himself as an authority. As a result, he is already working in a leading position in this specialised branch of the arboricultural industry and has been awarded the 30 under 30: The Next Generation awards in arboriculture, horticulture and landscape.
James Chambers

James has been involved in arboriculture for many years. Previous experience includes 13 years of managing trees for a local authority. Since employment with TMA in 2014, James has taken on the responsibility for the management of the arboricultural health and safety department. James and his team survey some of the largest green spaces in London and carry out regular Massaria inspections on London plane trees.
Experienced in the use of decay detection equipment (PiCUS and RESI PD), over a thousand tests completed for numerous clients in a wide variety of situations and circumstances – this equipment is used to make a detailed assessment of the extent of decay within a tree, and how much sound wood remains – this information is invaluable when considering tree safety.
Extensive experience in tree stability testing, assessing trees with suspected root damage/decay providing advice on future management of important specimen trees.
Edward Cleverdon

Specialising in trees and construction with relation to planning, Edward has been involved in all aspects of arboricultural consultancy from BS: 5837 tree surveys providing site appraisal and guidance with design, through detailed impact assessments for full planning applications, liaison with engineers to provide method statements for specialist construction / supervised construction; and monitoring to implement sensitive works.
On-site supervision work and site monitoring have been a key factor for Edward, gaining experience and understanding of what and how development may be feasible in relation to retaining trees. By working closely with contractors, Edward has gained an understanding of species and ground condition dependent tree root morphology; and to what extent certain works may encroach on industry standard root protection areas without impacting trees.

Juan Castellanos
GIS Technician

Juan has been working with TMA as a consultant and in house GIS technician since 2015, Juans main focus is delivery of GIS data to clients. Working to improve the functionality our inhouse data collection and management database MyTrees, Juan implements customer suggestions, tests new versions, and delivers technical support of to clients and the survey team.
Juan developed and maintains the TMA Fungi app which has been well received in the arboricultural industry. The apps functionality works as a resource to deliver fast and concise technical information in the field.
Emily Burns

With a National Diploma in Computer Software Development Emily has brought a broad skill set to TMA. Emily is experienced in Computer Software Development meant that within weeks of starting at TMA she has been responsible for building this website as well as the management of data through MyTrees.
Adept at delivering full administrative support to the management team, Emily maintains and develops administrative workflow and solutions by studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and evaluating alternative workflow solutions.
Emily co-ordinates the arboricultural tree risk and condition team ensuring efficient operation of department, communicating with key stakeholders and ensuring timely, on budget delivery of projects.
Glyn Jones
Arboricultural Consultant

Glyn began working within the arboriculture industry following a career change in 2012. His retraining started as a groundsman and climber and then qualified as a tree surveyor.
His work has included tree inspections, surveys and investigative works such as air spade root zone excavations and climbed inspection reports for many schools, local authorities, hospitals, housing associations and private domestic customers.

Siobhan Daniels

Siobhan works on a range of projects including residential, schools, hospitals, care homes, public gardens, country parks and university campuses.
Managing multiple projects at all work stages from inception through to completion Siobhan is experienced in bidding as part of a multidisciplinary team including developing and giving presentations for large scale public sector projects. Adept in community and client consultation and working with different procurement methods and construction contracts, including design and build contracts and traditional contracts.
Siobhan has In-depth knowledge of the planning system from working in both the public and private sector. She is experienced in assessing planning applications for Essex County Council and producing planning guidance and strategies.
